Having a new baby is a wonderful experience and a wonder of the universe. Its also a massive responsibility. There is just so much to think about and the list is endless! One of the things at the top of most parent’s priorities is helping their children develop their English language skills.
Being able to use English well is vital for children to progress through school, college and on through university to a stunning career. Even in Hong Kong, where the language of the day is Cantonese, English is a prerequisite for entry into so many establishments. Good English is your child’s passport to success.
Many kindergartens use English as their medium of instruction, and you may also enroll the services of a private English tutor for your child. But what can, as parents, you do on a day to day basis as your child is growing up? You have good English language skills but how do you pass these skills on to your child?
Well, just using English in the home is a very simple and easy way. You can speak to your child in English, listen actively to their answers and read together often and regularly.
