Ian Nock has a unique vision for the future of language services and communication skills training in Asia.

Ian Nock’s multi-faceted entrepreneurial career spans Business Consultancy, Business Communication, Healthcare, IT and Education. With years in experience in clinical pharmacy in the UK and as Chief Pharmacist at the renowned Matilda Hospital, he later moved to become Director of Medical Technology at eHealthcareAsia where he created and ran consumer and B-B internet portals for this listed health care company.

His entrepreneurial flair led him to set up his own business consultancy focusing on helping foreign based businesses become established in China. Seeing the need for improved communication skills in the global marketplace, he later started HKEnglish.Com. And in the middle of all this he found time to teach in major universities.

Ian’s people-focused acumen now focuses on the development of English language business communication skills to Asian executives, as well as corporate language and communication skills training solutions.

He has provided business skills coaching to numerous organisations in Asia, including multi- national banks, financial institutions, technology, legal and accounting firms. His decades in Asia contribute to Ian’s strengths in building bridges between businesses in China and those who want to flourish there.

His premise for life is to help people and at the head of HKEnglish.Com he is successfully achieving this every day.

Liz Moscrop

Director of Language Services and Senior Trainer

Liz’s extensive career covers Advertising, Corporate Communications, PR and journalism. She started out at the BBC news and current affairs publicity department and later leapt into Goldman Sachs' presentations department firstly in London and then later in Hong Kong.

She later moved to the China Internet Corporation – china.com - (the first Chinese company to list on NASDAQ) and ultimately was hired by ehealthcareasia.com as their Director of Corporate Communications.


Her career in journalism spans years and continents, and as an avid private pilot she is deeply involved in aviation journalism.

She has decades of experience in corporate internal and external communications, web writing and marketing under her belt. As Director of Language Services she is responsible for HKEnglish.Com’s editing, proofreading and copywriting services as well as being senior trainer and Business Coach.

Tony Steel

Teacher & Business Skills Coach

Tony has over 20 years teaching experience in various parts of the world. He receives outstanding feedback for his teaching, his interaction with students and knowledge of the subject matter. He is a popular teacher who students like and trust. His students have included engineer officers of the Italian Army, staff of Turkish Airlines and dealers at Macau casinos.

In Hong Kong, he has taught at various universities for over 10 years and also trained and examined for the English Proficiency Assessment for Teachers of English. He has extensive experience in corporate training and has led business skills courses at the Royal Bank of Scotland, The Peninsular Hotel and SWIFT to name a few. Tony has also led training programmes for teachers of English on the Mainland.

He has extensive experience as an IELTS trainer. In addition, he has been a BULATS examiner and TOEFL trainer.

He considers himself: an accomplished photographer (his former profession); a competent boat builder (though they usually sink!), and an expert crossword solver (because he knows the language).

A resident of Hong Kong for nearly twenty years, Tony has a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics from Macquarie University, Sydney, and holds language teaching qualifications from RSA (Cambridge), UK. 

Nicholas Wilson

Teacher & Business Skills Trainer

Nicholas has been teaching English as a foreign language in Hong Kong since coming to the territory from England in 1992. During this time he has taught many high profile clients – Chase Manhattan Bank, Swire Group, The Peninsula Hotel, AJM Design and The Hong Kong Police Force among others – as well as some more unusual ones such as the staff of the Peak Tram and beauticians at Philip Wain. In addition to private and corporate clients, Nicholas has taught at various tertiary institutes in Hong Kong including the Polytechnic University, Baptist University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

In addition to teaching in Hong Kong Nicholas has also been an aid worker in Cambodia on secondment to the Cambodian Ministry of Education where he helped to devise the national English curriculum, train trainee English teacher trainer trainers (yes, you read that right) and despite being blessed by the local Buddhist abbot still managed to fall of his motorbike with alarming regularity.

Nicholas has a deep understanding of the English language and a passion for teaching.  He also has an appreciation for the difficulties and frustrations that learners of foreign languages face – he claims that he had a full head of dark hair before he started to try and learn Cantonese.  Nicholas is a very patient and kind teacher who strongly believes in creating a challenging yet enjoyable atmosphere in his lessons.

Nicholas has a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Hong Kong, a BA Social Sciences (Politics) from the University of the West of England and English teaching qualifications from the University of Cambridge (Local Exams Syndicate).

Malcolm Andrews

Business Skills Trainer & Teacher

Malcolm has over 20 years experience in English education, ELT publishing and Business Skills Training.

A British national, he started off his career in Asia in 1987 in Japan where he taught English at an adult education school in Ishikawa Prefecture for two years. After a period teaching in South Korea, Malcolm moved to Hong Kong and entered the ELT publishing sector, working for UK publisher Pergamon Press for 8 years as Regional Manager before joining Longman as Direct Marketing Manager.

In 1997, Malcolm joined one of the largest UK business consultancies specializing in the area of supply market management and business skills training; He also worked with client companies to help them achieve focused and measurable development opportunities for their buying teams. Malcolm has been involved in the development of negotiation performance, coaching negotiators on both sides of the buyer/seller interface in a range of cultural and industry environments.

He has a keen interest in the development of English language communication skills as a high-level medium for conducting business as well as a way of achieving self-fulfillment.

Malcolm is married with 2 daughters and takes Hong Kong as his home. He studied Applied Psychology at North East London Polytechnic.
